Wind in the kite,
sand in the pockets.
Usually with a repair stop in between.
I'm Pippa, keeper of our family's slightly sandy notebook. We live in Whitby, make kites on the kitchen table, and judge a good walk by how many interesting things slow us down.
Our two children have different priorities. One wants the kite as high as the clouds; the other wants to inspect every bit of sea glass. I am mostly trying to remember which coat pocket holds the string. Between us, we manage an excellent afternoon.

A wonky paper diamond, a smooth stone, a drawing of the dog we met: these are the things that end up on the fridge. This scrapbook gives them a little more room. It also keeps the useful discoveries, like which knot survived a tug and why the next kite needs a less ambitious tail.
